Lakeside School has gone 8-2 against Abbeville Christian Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Chiefs will head out on the road to challenge the Generals at 4:00 p.m. Lakeside School is coming into the game hot, having won their last 11 games.
On Saturday, Lakeside School got the win against Westfield School by a conclusive 9-2. The result was nothing new for the Chiefs, who have now won 25 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Carson Scott made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trent Hayes, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Conner Britton, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple.
Lakeside School lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.
Meanwhile, Abbeville Christian Academy lost 11-1 to Deerfield-Windsor on Friday. The Generals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Abbeville Christian Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Bower, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.
Lakeside School pushed their record up to 40-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Abbeville Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 14-13.
Monday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lakeside School has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .487. However, it's not like Abbeville Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .472. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
