Indiana is 1-9 against Armstrong since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Indians will be playing in front of their home fans against the River Hawks at 11:00 a.m. Indiana is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Indiana earned a 7-3 win over North Allegheny.
Samantha Martin made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off ten hits. Martin was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Boyer, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hannah Ianarelli, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Indiana kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Armstrong fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Pine-Richland on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 10-9. That's two games in a row now that the River Hawks have lost by just one run.
Lily Gutherie was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Daria Stross, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Indiana's victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Armstrong, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Indiana hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .367. However, it's not like Armstrong struggles in that department as they've averaged .349. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Indiana came up short against Armstrong when the teams last played back in March of 2025, falling 7-4. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
