Meanwhile, Charles O. Dickerson's hitters rose to the challenge against a Panthers pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.8 runs allowed on Wednesday. The Blue Raiders blew past Spencer-Van Etten 13-1. Considering the Blue Raiders have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Nik Nelson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Charles O. Dickerson got a massive performance out of Ozzy Vogel-Moore, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Vogel-Moore a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anthony Muro, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Charles O. Dickerson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spencer-Van Etten only posted an OBP of .300.
Charles O. Dickerson pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Whitney Point, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Whitney Point suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Charles O. Dickerson in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
