Basketball Recap: Mitchell Sets Scoring Season-High Against Wooddale

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mitchell). They walked away with a 54-41 win over the Wooddale Cardinals on Thursday. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cardinals, too.

Mitchell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kayla McCaster, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. McCaster is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Terri Jackson, who went 6 of 13 en route to 14 points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Mitchell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

The victory got Mitchell back to even at 6-6. As for Wooddale, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Mitchell won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Fairley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wooddale, they and Freedom Prep Academy will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played.
