The Huntington Park Spartans entered their tilt with the Bell Eagles with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Huntington Park managed a 20-14 victory over Bell on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Huntington Park also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Huntington Park's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Benjamin Coca led the charge by throwing for 35 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Daniel Vazquez, who rushed for 16 yards and two touchdowns.
Bell's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Deven Lopez, who rushed for 162 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, and Erick Stubbs who rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. Lopez hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games.
Huntington Park's victory bumped their record up to 5-5. As for Bell, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Huntington Park will head out on the road to face off against South Gate at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. South Gate is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Bell will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Diego Rivera at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd.
