Softball Recap: Gilmer County Beats Clay County for Their Third Straight Win

Gilmer County waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Clay County Panthers 13-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 19-2 last Tuesday.

Kenley Hartshorn made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hartshorn was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexis Stoddard, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Kaelyn Mullins was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Gilmer County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Gilmer County's record is now 22-6. As for Clay County, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-9.

As of now, neither Gilmer County nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
