The West Stanly Colts lost against the Anson Bearcats back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. West Stanly took a 22-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of Anson.
When it comes to explaining why West Stanly lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rene Salazar. Despite the final result, he rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns.
Jazear Griffin got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Griffin was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 68 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendrick Maye, who gained 95 total yards and a touchdown.
West Stanly's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Anson, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 5-5.
West Stanly will square off against Monroe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Monroe is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games. As for Anson, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Forest Hills at 7:00 p.m. Forest Hills has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 143 points over their last three games.
