Wayne has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Fairmont Senior Polar Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Wayne at home against Poca as the team secured a 52-14 victory.
Wayne can attribute much of their success to Jaxson Damron, who rushed for 94 yards on only 12 carries, and also caught a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Fisher Fry, who threw for 203 yards and a touchdown on only 16 passes.
East Fairmont typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday Fairmont Senior proved too difficult a challenge. Fairmont Senior really took it to East Fairmont for the full four quarters, racking up a 48-14 win on the road. That's two games straight that Fairmont Senior has won by exactly 34 points.
Wayne has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Fairmont Senior, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.
Wayne was dealt a bruising 43-8 defeat at the hands of Fairmont Senior in their previous meeting back in November of 2017. Can Wayne avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
