Despite the defeat, Buena Vista saw an underclassman step up: Mogtaba Mohamed scored eight points along with six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Smith, who scored eight points.
Westview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Antonio DeLeon led the charge by scoring 12 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points DeLeon has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Trey Griggs, who scored six points along with five assists and four steals.
Buena Vista dropped their record down to 0-15 with that defeat, which was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.1 points per game. As for Westview, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Buena Vista will take on the Rockets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westview, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Islanders at 7:00 p.m.
