Basketball Recap: South Bend St. Joseph Snags Eighth Win in Last Ten Games

If South Bend Riley wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played South Bend St. Joseph, they should've done a better job of containing Kenadie Schrock. The South Bend St. Joseph Huskies came out on top against the South Bend Riley Wildcats by a score of 56-43 on Thursday thanks in part to Schrock, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Alexa Langager, who posted nine points and three steals. Those nine points gave her a new career-high.

South Bend Riley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lafaye Gibson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Emma Norton, who put up ten points and five rebounds.

South Bend St. Joseph has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for South Bend Riley, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-8.

South Bend St. Joseph will venture away from home to take on Goshen at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Bend St. Joseph has four straight wins, Goshen has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court. As for South Bend Riley, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-45 loss against Culver Academies on the 11th.
