The Haddam-Killingworth Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Morgan Hukies at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Haddam-Killingworth's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Morgan's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
It was a proper cat-fight when Haddam-Killingworth faced off against Cromwell on Friday. The Cougars fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 4-2.
Meanwhile, Morgan had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on East Hampton with a sharp 9-3 win on Friday. The Hukies not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since June 2, 2025 (when they won 21-1).
Trevor Powell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Jacoby Brown tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Benjamin Brown, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Julian Larabee also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Morgan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Haddam-Killingworth now has a losing record of 1-2-1. As for Morgan, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-4.
Haddam-Killingworth came up short against Morgan in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, falling 4-1. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
