Escondido is 1-9 against Westview since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Cougars will host the Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.
Escondido came up short against San Diego last Tuesday, falling 8-2.

Amelia Gastelum was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times she's played.
Meanwhile, Westview hadn't done well against La Costa Canyon recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Wolverines skirted past the Mavericks 2-1.
Not much got past Kaya Rodriguez, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep La Costa Canyon off the board.
On the hitting side, Westview's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kamryn Gonzalez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Escondido's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5-1. As for Westview, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4-1.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Escondido hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .392. However, it's not like Westview struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Escondido might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Westview in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
