The Delta Panthers put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 48-0 win over Montezuma-Cortez. Given Delta's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Montezuma-Cortez is ranked 123rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ty Reed continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 217 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 passes, while also punching in two touchdowns on the ground. Rylan Bynum also helped out with an impressive 92 receiving yards.
Delta's win was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 9-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.1 points per game. As for Montezuma-Cortez, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-5.
Delta will face off against Alamosa at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Alamosa is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Montezuma-Cortez does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
