They came out on top in a nail-biter against Franklin Central and snuck past 35-32. That's another feather in the cap for Richfield Springs Central, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Several Purple Devils players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Shannon Kingsbury, who scored 11 points along with four steals. Kingsbury scored a full 34.4% of Franklin Central's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Madeline Hyzer was another key contributor, scoring four points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Richfield Springs Central's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Franklin Central, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Richfield Springs Central will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Laurens Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2024. As for Franklin Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
