Green Hope had to suffer through a rough 73-40 loss at the hands of Panther Creek. Green Hope has not had much luck with Panther Creek recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Green Hope lost, one person who can't be blamed is Abigail Brown. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 rebounds. That was a full 45% of Green Hope's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Mel Mydosh, who scored 11 points.
Panther Creek had a senior duo take command as Olivia Tucker scored 20 points along with six steals and five assists and Taylor Barner scored 21 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Barner has been hot recently, having posted 21 or more points the last 12 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sasha Boddie, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Green Hope has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Panther Creek, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 16-4.
Green Hope will be playing at home against Green Level at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Green Levelpresents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Green Hope in North Carolina (Green Level is ranked 62nd, while Green Hope is ranked 216th). As for Panther Creek, they will head out on the road to challenge Apex Friendship at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Panther Creek is coming into the game with 15 straight wins on the road, so Apex Friendship is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
