After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Oil City, The Titusville Rockets were happy to have found some success on Friday. They walked away with a 28-21 victory over Corry. This was payback for Titusville, who suffered a 39-14 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Leading Titusville to victory were Kameron Mong and Jaxon Covell. Mong rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, while Covell rushed for 207 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Covell was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 63 yards.
Corry's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Nolan Carey, who rushed for 45 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 220 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Rylan Smith, who picked up 120 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Titusville is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Corry, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6.
Titusville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Corry will take on Meadville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
