On Tuesday, the KIPP DC Legacy College Prep Bulldogs faced the Idea Timberwolves in a battle between two of the state's top teams. KIPP DC Legacy College Prep fell to the Timberwolves 59-55. It was the first time this season that KIPP DC Legacy College Prep let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, KIPP DC Legacy College Prep saw an underclassman step up: Marlon Calhoun scored 31 points. Another player making a difference was Demetrius Gladen, who scored nine points.
Malachi Hoston was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with five rebounds and four steals for Idea. The team also got some help courtesy of Shamar Shorts, who scored nine points along with three steals.
KIPP DC Legacy College Prep's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-7. As for Idea, they pushed their record up to 18-6 with that victory, which was their ninth straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. KIPP DC Legacy College Prep will take on the Pythons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
