It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Pullman had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 56-39 win over the West Valley Eagles. The Greyhounds are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 11 straight.
Pullman's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Vaughn Holstad, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. Holstad is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last five games he's played. Cade Rogers was another key player, shooting 69% from the field en route to 18 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Pullman was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They posted eight more assists than West Valley's also-impressive total of 11.
When it comes to explaining why West Valley lost, don't look at Hewson Spencer. Despite the final result, he went 6-for-11 to rack up 18 points and five boards. Spencer continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Jordan Johnson also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.
Pullman's record is now 20-3. As for West Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-7.
