The Columbia Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Forrest County Agricultural Aggies at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbia is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
Columbia stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 43-22 margin over Poplarville. Given Columbia's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while Poplarville is ranked 207th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jakira Brown was her usual excellent self, scoring 17 points. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Indea Pounds, who scored eight points.
Forrest County Agricultural can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against Sumrall by a score of 43-36. The win was just what Forrest County Agricultural needed coming off of a 64-30 defeat in their prior contest.
Columbia's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Forrest County Agricultural, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-12.
Everything went Columbia's way against Forrest County Agricultural in their previous matchup on January 2nd as Columbia made off with a 48-23 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Columbia since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
