The Lewisburg Patriots will square off against the Oxford Chargers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lewisburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Lewisburg came up short against DeSoto Central on Tuesday, falling 10-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Patriots in their meetings with the Jaguars: they've now lost four in a row.
Lexi Edmiston spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Lewisburg saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Abrams, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Another was Leona-Klaire Stokes, who scored two runs and stole two bases.
Meanwhile, Oxford had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Lafayette 3-1.
Oxford also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Paisley Walls gave up only one earned run on five hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mary-Claire King, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.
Lewisburg's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Oxford, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Lewisburg hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Oxford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Lewisburg's way against Oxford when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Lewisburg made off with a 17-7 win. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chargers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
