Greenleaf Friends Academy is 7-2 against Garden Valley since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Grizzlies will welcome the Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Greenleaf Friends Academy has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Garden Valley will arrive with three straight victories.
Greenleaf Friends Academy had been on a five-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Glenns Ferry put an end to it on Wednesday. The Grizzlies came up short against the Pilots, falling 19-0. The match marked the first time this year in which the Grizzlies were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Garden Valley). They blew past Rimrock 30-20 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Gabriella Gillette was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, six stolen bases, and eight RBI. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Lacey Tucker was another key player, getting on base in six of her seven plate appearances with one home run, five runs, and five RBI.
Garden Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .780. They are 7-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Garden Valley pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 22.3 runs over those games. As for Greenleaf Friends Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Greenleaf Friends Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .509. However, it's not like Garden Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .613. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Greenleaf Friends Academy took their win against Garden Valley in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 21-15 score. Will the Grizzlies repeat their success, or do the Wolverines have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
