Greenville has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Clarksdale Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Greenville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Greenville came up short against North Side and fell 45-38.
Despite the loss, Greenville got a solid performance out of Franklin Bennett, who scored 11 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Gymanuel Wells, who scored 7 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Clarksdale pushed their score all the way to 55 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 63-55 to Palmer.
Despite their loss, Clarksdale saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jumon Brown, who scored 18 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Jordan Howard, who scored 12 points.
Coahoma County's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Greenville's loss dropped theirs to 5-4.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's match: Greenville have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4 threes per game. It's a different story for Clarksdale, though, as they've been averaging only 4.4 per game. Given Greenville's sizeable advantage in that area, Clarksdale will need to find a way to close that gap.
