The Shonto Prep Grizzlies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Rock Point, falling 88-31. Shonto Prep has not had much luck with Rock Point recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Despite the loss, Shonto Prep still got an impressive performance from Bronson Deschine, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. That was a full 74.2% of Shonto Prep's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Erol Norton, who scored two points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Shonto Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Shonto Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Rock Point, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-7.
Shonto Prep will head out on the road to challenge Seligman at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Seligman's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games. As for Rock Point, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Basis at 7:00 p.m. on January 27th. Basis is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 62.2 points per game.
