Calipatria is 1-9 against Brawley since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Calipatria Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Brawley Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Calipatria was able to grind out a solid win over Holtville, taking the game 49-37. Given Calipatria's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 447th, while Holtville is ranked 1027th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brawley posted their biggest win since December 28, 2023 on Friday. They put the hurt on Holtville with a sharp 59-38 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Brawley has posted against Holtville since January 28, 2020.
Brawley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Domanic Vallejo, who scored 14 points along with six steals. Vallejo hasn't dropped below two steals for 17 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Cj Retutal, who scored 13 points.
Calipatria has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Brawley, they pushed their record up to 12-10 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Calipatria came out on top in a nail-biter against Brawley when the teams last played last Friday, sneaking past 54-51. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Vallejo, who scored 23 points along with seven steals.
