In what's become a running theme this season, the Independence Patriots gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 63-36 win over Richwood. With that win, Independence brought their scoring average up to 50.3 points per game.
Independence was led to victory by Harmony Mills and Lacey Goodson. Mills dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds, while Goodson dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. Mills is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last 12 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kamryn Wooten, who scored two points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Independence's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Richwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
Independence won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Shady Spring is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Richwood, they will head out on the road to challenge the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Liberty has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 7.
