Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Medicine Lodge Indians walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Trinity on Friday and snuck past 17-14. The win was nothing new for Medicine Lodge as they're now sitting on six straight.
Medicine Lodge was led to victory by Derrek Randels and Keveon Ruiz. Randels picked up 85 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Ruiz threw for 218 yards and a touchdown.
Medicine Lodge's victory was their fourth straight at home , which pushed their record up to 8-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-7 Oakley and 3-6 Inman (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 33.9% over those games). As for Trinity, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
Medicine Lodge will square off against Valley Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Valley Heights is ranked 83rd, while Medicine Lodge is ranked 87th). Trinity does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
