After a string of four wins, the Math Civics & Sciences Mighty Elephants's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a hard 73-56 fall against Roselle Catholic. While losing is never fun, Math Civics & Sciences can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 91st in Pennsylvania, while Roselle Catholic is ranked 29th in New Jersey).
Math Civics & Sciences' loss came despite strong showings from Sair Alsbrooks and Azeem Murphy. Alsbrooks scored 16 points along with five rebounds, while Murphy scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Brown, who scored six points.
Math Civics & Sciences' loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7. As for Roselle Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season.
Math Civics & Sciences will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech at 3:15 p.m. As for Roselle Catholic, they will head out on the road to take on Cranford at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Cranford will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
