The Verrado Vipers and the Independence Patriots squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly the Verrado Vipers had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 1-0. Verrado was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Independence apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2020.
This is the second loss in a row for Verrado and nudges their season record down to 7-8-2. As for Independence, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 16-4-1.
Verrado does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Independence, they will head out on the road to take on Casteel at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Casteel's defense has only allowed 0.3 goals per game this season, so Independence's offense will have their work cut out for them.
