Two dominant backs in Justin Powell and Serjoe Jones are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. After each having a week off, the Toombs County Bulldogs and the Temple Tigers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Toombs County will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Toombs County gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They took their game with ease, bagging a 52-24 victory over Savannah Christian. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by 22 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Toombs County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joseph Owens, who threw for 56 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Toombs County's defense and their four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Hayden Roy and Powell, who racked up all four sacks between them. With that strong performance, Powell is now averaging an impressive 102.3 rushing yards per game.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for Toombs County, adding 16 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Slade McDonald, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Temple didn't have quite enough to beat Model last Friday and fell 38-36. While the Tigers had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Blue Devils 8-3.
Toombs County will have to contain Nehemiah Dorsey as he made an impact in Temple's last game. He rushed for 70 yards and one score.
Toombs County's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Temple, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-5.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Toombs County has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 188.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Temple struggles in that department as they've been averaging 275.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
