The Roosevelt Roughriders are taking a road trip to challenge the Severance Silver Knights at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Roosevelt is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
On Monday, Roosevelt made easy work of Wellington and carried off a 13-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Roughriders, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Jack Sansone and Israel Castillo made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Sansone tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Castillo struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. Sansone has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Sansone got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run, while Castillo got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Roosevelt got a massive performance out of Kayden Bryant, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Luke Unruh also deserves some recognition as he hit his first doubles of the season.
Meanwhile, Severance was able to grind out a solid victory over Berthoud on Thursday, taking the game 6-1. The Silver Knights haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Colton Matthews spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks.
On the hitting side, Dom Torres was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Braeden Kerksiek was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Roosevelt's record now sits at 10-0. As for Severance, their record is now 9-3.
Roosevelt was able to grind out a solid victory over Severance when the teams last played back in April of 2025, winning 8-5. Do the Roughriders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Silver Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
