Bayfield took a serious blow against Montezuma-Cortez on Friday, falling 71-25. Bayfield has struggled against Montezuma-Cortez recently, as their contest on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Bayfield lost, one person who can't be blamed is Renae Foutz. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That was a full 68% of Bayfield's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Montezuma-Cortez's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taylor Whited, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and five steals. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Alamosa is ranked 118th, while Montezuma-Cortez is ranked 124th).
