Satellite has gone 9-1 against Heritage recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Satellite Scorpions will venture away from home to face off against the Heritage Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Satellite comes in on five and Heritage on six.
Satellite had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy on Wednesday. Satellite put the hurt on Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy with a sharp 7-1 win.
Brandon Bell was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Bell was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Jaidan Batts was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Robbie Bendall also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Heritage). They walked away with a 14-9 victory over Palm Bay on Tuesday.
Like Satellite, Heritage also got a great game from a two-way player: Kethziel Torres. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Torres also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Heritage is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise. Torres was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jameson Gonzalez, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joel Fernandez, who went 1-for-5 with one triple and two RBI.
Heritage kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.8.
Satellite pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Heritage, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 6-4.
Everything went Satellite's way against Heritage when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Satellite made off with a 12-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Satellite since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
