Northside has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the McIntosh Chiefs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northside will be strutting in after a win while the Chiefs will be coming in after a loss.
Even though Northgate scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, Northside still came out on top. Northside took their match against the Vikings 65-58. The win was just what Northside needed coming off of a 70-46 defeat in their prior game.
Northside's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zariah Davis, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Davis has scored at least a third of Northside's points. Morgan Thomas was another key contributor, scoring 22 points.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for McIntosh, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-43 loss to the Jaguar on Saturday. While losing is never fun, McIntosh can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 307th, while the Jaguar are ranked 37th).
Northside's victory bumped their record up to 8-14. As for McIntosh, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.
Northside was able to grind out a solid win over the Chiefs in their previous meeting back in January, winning 55-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northside since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
