The Gaithersburg Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the Poolesville Falcons at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Gaithersburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Gaithersburg is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Seneca Valley 22-1 on Wednesday. The Trojans have beaten the Screaming Eagles the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Screaming Eagles has come to flipping the script.

Brennan Potter and Nicholas Bixler made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Potter tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Bixler struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Potter went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Bixler went 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. Bixler has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Gaithersburg got a massive performance out of Vincent Burakiewicz, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Burakiewicz is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Pavel Neda, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Gaithersburg hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seneca Valley struck out 11 times.
Meanwhile, Poolesville lost 14-4 to Walter Johnson on Tuesday. The Falcons have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Poolesville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonathan Kwon, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Gaithersburg's record is now 2-4. As for Poolesville, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Poolesville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Gaithersburg hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .370. It's a different story for Poolesville, though, as they've only averaged .248. Will they be able to contain Gaithersburg's hitters?
Gaithersburg was able to grind out a solid victory over Poolesville in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, winning 8-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
