Riverside came tearing into Saturday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Harding Skippers by a score of 71-59. While the Beavers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Riverside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Drew Brown, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Despite the defeat, Harding saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Yomar Castellano went 8 of 18 on his way to 25 points and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Beardslee, who posted six points and five rebounds.
Riverside's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Harding, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.
Riverside will challenge Kenston at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
