The Savanna Rebels lost against the Anaheim Colonists back in September of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Savanna took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Anaheim. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Savanna in their matchups with Anaheim: they've now lost five in a row.
Savanna's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Jake Dorsi, who rushed for 111 yards on only 15 carries. Dorsi was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards. Diego Perez was another key contributor, throwing for 167 yards and two touchdowns.
Anaheim was led to victory by Mj Fernandez and Jason Garrett. Fernandez threw for 249 yards and four touchdowns, while Garrett picked up 130 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Savanna's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-1 Western and 6-3 Rancho Alamitos (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 66.7% over those games). As for Anaheim, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Savanna will take on Magnolia at 6:30 p.m. on October 27th. As for Anaheim, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Western at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Western presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Anaheim in California (Western is ranked 105th, while Anaheim is ranked 887th).
