4A District 2 recap September 24, 2013
Patrick McKaufman and Jalil England provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Star-Spencer. The connection was good for 78 yards, the longest such play in 4A District 2 this season.
Douglass took down the Bobcats 52-8 last week, the largest margin of any game. McKaufman threw for 261 yards and 4 touchdowns and ran for 26 yards in the win.
Tyler Gibson was the best running back in the league this week. In 25 carries, he ran for 160 yards as Mannford bested Bristow. Luke May also contributed to the rushing game with 98 yards on the ground.
McKaufman put up the best numbers through the air as the Trojans topped Star-Spencer.
Carter was the best wideout in the league this week as the Pirates defeated the Pirates. Carter racked up 4 receptions for 72 yards.
Douglass' McKaufman and Isiah Shaputis have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 4A District 2 in both passing and receiving yards. McKaufman has thrown for 457 yards this season, while Shaputis, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 10 catches for 183 yards. Mannford's Gibson leads the league in rushing yards with 706.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Glenpool takes on McLoud. As it stands, the Warriors are in third, while the Redskins are in first.
Tecumseh made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,460 from 8,267. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 36-29 victory over Little Axe last week.
