After flying high against Half Moon Bay  last Friday, Mercy came back down to earth. The Mercy Bears fell  11-6 to the Presentation Panthers on Wednesday.
  G Ortega made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  went 3-for-4 with a  home run, two  runs,  and a  triple. Another player making a difference was  E Gonsalves, who  went 2-for-3 with three  RBI and a  double.
 Even though they lost, Mercy  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with eight  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Presentation only tossed three.
 On Presentation's side,  Allie Malatesta spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned  (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. Malatesta has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  pitched less than five  innings in four consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate,  Ciara Donahoe was  incredible,  going 3-for-4 with a  home run, three  runs,  and two  RBI.  Kiley O?Shea was another key contributor,  scoring three  runs and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in four of her five plate appearances.
 Mercy has  not been sharp recently as the team has  lost three of their last four matches,  which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3-1 record  this season. As for Presentation, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
 Mercy will look to defend their home field  on Thursday against St. Ignatius College Preparatory at 3:30  p.m. As for Presentation, they will head out on the road to  face off against  Piedmont Hills at 4:00  p.m.  on Friday.
