The Butler Bulldogs will head out to take on the Sun Valley Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
While Bulldogs fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Tuesday's season opener. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Ballantyne Ridge a 9-0 shutout on Tuesday.
Amir Carter made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Carter was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs.
In other pitching news, Patrick O'Shaughnessy looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Greyson Scheaffer was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.
Meanwhile, Sun Valley gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Parkwood with a sharp 8-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Spartans have posted since February 29, 2024.
Keller Weaver looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
At the plate, Sun Valley let Brian Devereaux and Jessen Copeland run wild. Devereaux scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Copeland went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Kroehler, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Butler suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Sun Valley in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Can Butler avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
