The biggest upset of the week belonged to Vienna/Goreville, who took down 395th ranked Vienna/Goreville, 17-14.
Johnston City moved up to 390 from 417 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Black Diamond. The Indians were able to make move up by defeating the Eagles 17-14.
Elverado/Trico's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kyle Whittington threw for 65 and one touchdown and Josh Sarensen had 63 yards receiving. On the ground Brian McClanahan chipped in 182 yards. Marshall Bell helped Elverado/Trico's passing attack out by catching one ball for two yards.
Chester's Jake Cowan and Caleb Arbeiter have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Cowan has thrown for 673 yards this season, while Arbeiter, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 21 catches for 413 yards. Dyllan Bailey from Fairfield leads the league in rushing with 951 yards.
McClanahan has rushed for 938 yards on 169 carries so far this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Vienna/Goreville takes on Sesser-Valier/Waltonville/Woodlawn. As it stands, the Eagles are in third, while the Red Devils are in fourth.
The Yellowjackets extended the longest winning streak in Black Diamond this week by beating Hamilton County, 55-0. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
