Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Highland

Highland won against Merrillville last Thursday with 20 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 20-2 margin over the Hebron Hawks. Fans of the Trojans have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Skylar Zoeteman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Zoeteman was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and four RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Casey DiSanto and Jordan Boyd did most of the damage at the plate: DiSanto went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Boyd scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave DiSanto a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jordan Steele, who went 1-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Highland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .721. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hebron only posted an OBP of .176.

The win (which was Highland's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Highland has already played their next contest, a 14-12 loss against Valparaiso on the 12th. As for Hebron, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 10-0 defeat against Beecher on the 12th.
