Yuma is 0-10 against Cibola since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Yuma Criminals will head out on the road to square off against the Cibola Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Yuma can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 69-59 win over Shadow Mountain. Given Yuma's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while Shadow Mountain is ranked 258th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Yuma's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nick Amador, who scored 20 points along with six steals. Amador is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Pacheco, who scored 17 points along with six assists and five steals.
Meanwhile, Cibola beat Kofa 58-45 on Friday. 58 seems to be a good number for Cibola as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Yuma's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.4 points per game. As for Cibola, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6.
Yuma came up short against Cibola in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 59-51. Thankfully for Yuma, Jared Arias (who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and five assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
