The Middleton Tigers will take on the Falkner Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Middleton took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Fayette Ware 10-9. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.

Middleton let Will Baker and Kamren Bumpus run wild. Baker went 2-for-5 with five RBI and one triple, while Bumpus got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those five RBI gave Baker a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Cornelius, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Falkner). Everything went their way against Ingomar on Tuesday as they made off with a 17-5 win. Considering the Eagles have won five matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Nolan Ashley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Colee Stroupe was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with six RBI, two stolen bases, and two doubles. Cade Alston was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Falkner hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.
The victory got Middleton back to even at 1-1. As for Falkner, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
Middleton might still be hurting after the 12-5 defeat they got from Falkner in their previous matchup on Monday. Will the Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
