The Coyle Bluejackets will head out on the road to face off against the Oaks-Mission Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Coyle's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three matches.
Two weeks ago, Coyle got themselves on the board against Bluejacket, but Bluejacket never followed suit. They blew past the Chieftains, posting a 46-0 victory on the road. The result was nothing new for Coyle, who have now won three contests by 32 points or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Oaks-Mission pushed their score all the way to 32 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 44-32 to Watts. Oaks-Mission was down 44-24 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the defeat, Oaks-Mission got a solid performance out of Malakye Hawley, who rushed for 173 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry, and also threw for 89 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes.
Coyle's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 5-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.3 points per game. Oaks-Mission has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Coyle against Oaks-Mission in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 60-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coyle since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
