Last Friday, Blue Valley Northwest faced Blue Valley West in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Blue Valley Northwest blew past Blue Valley West, posting a 79-47 victory on the road. Blue Valley Northwest has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.
Blue Valley Northwest relied on the efforts of Jake Fritz, who scored 23 points along with three steals, and Joey Matteoni, who scored 23 points. Fritz is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. Trevor Garlington was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Blue Valley pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Blue Valley North on the road by a decisive 72-55 margin.
Blue Valley Northwest's victory bumped their record up to 15-2. As for Blue Valley, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8-2 record this season.
Blue Valley Northwest skirted past Blue Valley 69-66 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Blue Valley Northwest since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
