Western Pennsylvania [WPAC] recap November 5, 2013
Portage extended the longest winning streak in Western Pennsylvania [WPAC] this week by beating Homer-Center, 35-19. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Mustangs.
Ferndale fell to Glendale 44-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Portage's dynamic duo of Michael Bryja and Cw Miller proved to be unstoppable against the Wildcats, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Bryja threw for 98 yards and 1 touchdown and Miller had 69 yards receiving. Joe Randazzo helped Portage's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 18 yards.
Braden Fochtman was a force in the backfield as Berlin Brothersvalley topped Windber.
Fochtman provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Mountaineers defeated the Ramblers.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Windber's Devon Tomlinson and Matt Barkley have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-10 quarterback Tomlinson has thrown for 1,076 yards this season, while Barkley has 42 catches for 708 yards. Fochtman from Berlin Brothersvalley leads the league in rushing with 1,801 yards.
Meyersdale's Gavin Berkley needs only 55 yards against Matt Grohal's team next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 145 carries Berkley has accumulated 945 yard this year.
At the moment, the Red Raiders are in third, while the Ramblers are in fourth.
