Sadly, the Harvard Cardinals are still looking for their first win of the season after 18 games. They took a 45-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lawrence-Nelson on Tuesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Harvard in their matchups with Lawrence-Nelson: they've now lost eight in a row.
Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tabi Forney, who scored 13 points along with seven steals. Forney is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Taylor Braun, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
Harvard dropped their record down to 0-18 with that loss, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.6 points per game. As for Lawrence-Nelson, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harvard will take on Shelton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Shelton's defense has only allowed 29.6 points per game this season, so Harvard's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Lawrence-Nelson, they will head out on the road to face off against Kenesaw at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lawrence-Nelson has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
