After two games on the road, Asheville is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Asheville Christian Academy Lions at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Asheville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Asheville had to suffer through a rough 74-41 loss at the hands of Asheville School (Independent). While losing is never fun, Asheville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 261st, while Asheville School (Independent) is ranked 38th).
Evie Bick put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds.
Meanwhile, after only 20 points in their last match, Asheville Christian Academy made sure to put some points up on the board against Brevard on Wednesday. Asheville Christian Academy came out on top against Brevard by a score of 58-50.
Asheville Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sara Larios, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 10 assists. Ansley Fuchs was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
Asheville now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Asheville Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 3-5 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Asheville have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 34.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Asheville Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 22.2 per game.
