The Northwest Area Rangers will square off against the Crestwood Comets at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Northwest Area's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Columbia Montour Vo-Tech. The victory continues a trend for the Rangers in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won eight in a row.
Jenna Robaczewski made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Robaczewski was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Addisyn Diltz and Ava Ruckle did most of the damage at the plate: Diltz scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Ruckle scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. What's more, Diltz posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Abby Everett, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Northwest Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbia Montour Vo-Tech only posted a batting average of .000.
Crestwood hadn't beaten Wyoming Valley West on the road since May 18, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Comets put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 10-0 win.
The result came thanks to Brooke Lenahan's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Crestwood let Madison Mendrzycki and Ella Richards run wild. Mendrzycki went 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Richards scored three runs while going 3-for-4. That triple was Mendrzycki's first of the season. Alekzandria Dutko was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Northwest Area pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Crestwood, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Northwest Area has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Crestwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Northwest Area came out on top in a nail-biter against Crestwood in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 15-14. Will the Rangers repeat their success, or do the Comets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
