The Wharton Wildcats and the Freedom Patriots will face off at 8:00 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wharton has eight straight wins, Freedom has ten straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Wharton has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 23 points or more this season. They breezed by Leto on the road to the tune of 45-16. The team accrued 33 points in the first half and coasted on those for the victory.
Wharton's win on Wednesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayla Grady, who scored 11 points along with six steals. Another player making a difference was Tamara Bryant, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Freedom, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 37-23 loss to Blake on Wednesday.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Phoenix Palmer, who scored eight points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Tylisia Hale was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Wharton pushed their record up to 8-0 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Freedom, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
Everything came up roses for Wharton against Freedom in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 61-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wharton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
